Colorado Springs Eye Doctor Shares Eye Exercises to Improve Vision

Eyes are also controlled by muscles and can become sore if held in a single position for an extended period of time. Giving the eye muscles a break like any other body muscle can be very beneficial in the long run. There are claims that doing some specific eye exercises could significantly improve vision and productivity, get rid of headaches, minimize the risk of developing glaucoma, and eliminate errors according to eye doctor Colorado Springs.

Luckily, these exercises do not require much of your time to perform. You do not need to take some time off to do them. Therefore, having a busy work or school schedule should not prevent you from performing them and you do not have any excuse not to do them.

4 Eye Exercises to Improve Vision

Below are different Eye exercises that can be done to enhance or improve vision, including how they are done and how they may improve your vision.

#1. 20-20-20 Rule

Many people experience eye strain, as the eyes of humans are not supposed to remain glued to one position or object for a long period of time. However, this exercise is great for those who sit at the computer desk and work all day. To perform this exercise, stare at an object that is 20 feet away from you for 20 seconds, after every 20 minutes. Doing this exercise could prevent what is commonly referred to as digital eye strain.

#2. Figure Eight

To perform this exercise, you need to be in a seated position. Select a spot on the floor 10 feet away from you. This should be a spot right in front of you. Start by tracing an imaginary figure 8 with the eyes in the clockwise direction for about 30 seconds. After 30 seconds, change direction in the counterclockwise fashion and do the same for another 30 seconds. This should allow your eyes to focus on a distant object instead of remaining glued to the computer screen for an unhealthy or an extended period of time.

#3. Blinking

Blinking is another eye exercise you can perform in the comfort of your seat. To perform this exercise, ensure you are seated comfortably and that your eyes remain open throughout the process. Blink rapidly 10-15 times to exercise the eye muscles before closing your eyes for about 20 seconds to relax them. This should be repeated 4-5 times before shifting focus to something else.

#4. Palming

To perform this exercise, bring your hands together and rub the palms vigorously and rapidly until they feel very warm or hot. Place them over your eyelids and allow them to transfer the heat on the eyes. This generally relaxes the eye muscles and the eyes feel relieved in the darkness. Keep the warm palms on the eyelids until the warmth is completely absorbed from them and transferred to the eyes. This should be repeated 2-3 times.

Since the eyes also do have muscles that control their movement, these muscles can get sore if strained in one position for some time. However, performing the above exercises on a regular basis could help to cure your vision problems naturally and improve your eyesight.
