Fruits for dogs? You probably recognize it: your dog is looking full of hope when you prepare fruit. If a piece falls on the ground, then it’s immediately bite-swallowed by your pupil. Fruit every day may seem healthy, but it applies only to people. Many dogs are full of expectation when their owner prepares fruit. But does a dog actually need fruit? And is fruit good for your dog? Our dogs have entirely different daily needs when it comes to diet. Still, giving fruit to your dog is not always as harmless. It is essential, however, to carefully pay attention to the food that our pupil eats.
Dog’s Menu: How Should it Look Like?
The list of potentially harmful and toxic foods for dogs is long. Presently, scientific research expands our knowledge about this topic so we can take care of our pupils better and better. Most people remember that chocolate is poisonous to dogs. But what about fruits? We have listed fruits that you can’t feed your dog.
Grapes, Currants, and Raisins
Eating grapes, raisins and currants can lead to severe kidney failure. A piece of currant bread can be too much! After ingestion, the dog often vomits, has diarrhea and reduced appetite. Also, lethargy, abdominal pain or general weakness are seen. After a few days, kidney failure develops which can have a fatal outcome. Poisoning can occur when a dog gets 2 grams per kg/body weight. This is a very small amount! Always reach your vet if you assume that your dog has consumed grapes, raisins or currants. By causing the dog to vomit within 1 to 2 hours (by the vet!) and using infusion therapy, much misery can be prevented.

Why Can People Eat Fruits but Dogs Can’t?
People eat fruit because it’s tasty and healthy. It contains vitamin C, which is necessary for good immunity. Dogs, however, can make vitamin C in their body. That is why fruits for dogs are not necessarily needed for this. On the other hand, it is usually not very dangerous to give the dog some fruit as a snack, as long as it is in small quantities and well tolerated. So the dog should not get diarrhea or other complaints. Too much fruit can also cause some flatulence. However, always remember to be careful about your dog’s menu.
